Long time since we last gave an update on the Civic, so as the 2016 is now gone lets take a quick look into what’s happened by the end of 2016.
This time the game changer was 4 Michelin Slick tires. Was said to drop lap times instantly and guess what….they did it.
But before that , lets do some flash back
The car is now equipped with more upgrades, in order to fix some issues and operate smoother.
- Mocal oil cooler kit as a solution to keep oil temperatures lower
- AEM wideband to be able to see the air fuel ratio
- Depo oil pressure and oil temperature gauges so we can have actual readings on attack and be overall safe
- A bit bigger slim fan for the radiator
- Motul inugel optimal radiator cooling fluids
- Motul 300v 10w40 racing oils (no pressure drop)
As we wanted to test the slick tire compound, it was about time to get another set of 4 new wheels in order to mount them on.
I’m sure these where a great option! Ultralite F1 15X7 ET35 .That’s a known japanese desing but as price and budget does matter, the deal set on.
Before we hit the track it was about time to do a proper weight measure of the car. In order to do the work right, we managed to work with a proffesional device that it’s the ideal motorsport tool for that work. Proform weight scale kit. This kit consists of 4 scale plates that are connected with the central devices which monitor the weight of the car per axle and the total weight. This gives you the opportunity to measure and distribute the weight of the car by adjusting the high of the suspension. We did manage to do some initial testing and come out great. We have more to work with the device in the near future as long as the car will get more changes till then.
Also the car is now equipped with a wifi device that operates with the Neptune software , so from now on we are able to do data logging on android mobile. Sometime soon we will work on a stand alone on board device in which you can get them all. Gadget is a must nowdays
So the car went on 19 of Octomber at serres racing circuit for another test session. The weather was great, the car run great and the driver manages to set 1.33.35 on Nankang AR1 195/50/15. Tires where nice, lasted a lot of laps and maybe we could say a sec faster than r888’s.
The adjustable rear wing, forced us to do a bit of more aggressive angle and worked even better as that set more down force at the back and a bit of higher working temperatures on tires so better grip.
Brakes where also great. The combination of RPB discs ad Ferodo DS3000 pads are really nice setup for this type of brakes and use of.
And here comes with mad man. BOOM. The 1’30 barrier is now ripped. Say hello to 1.29.97 !!!
Both drive and car performed well and the lap time was set! That’s what we was looking for. Let’s dig deeper into 1.2* barrier
Stay tuned!
