Product Overview

The Doctronic ProECU-K Expansion Box is an add-on module designed to expand the sensor and input capability of the ProECU-K engine management system.

It is ideal for tuned Honda K-Series, D-Series, S2000 and K-swap applications where additional sensor monitoring, datalogging or table switching functions are required.

The Expansion Box connects directly to the ProECU-K expansion port and adds extra analog, digital and EGT inputs, allowing the tuner to monitor more engine data and configure additional functions inside the ProECU-K software.

For serious street, trackday, turbo, time attack and motorsport builds, having extra sensor information is extremely useful. Oil pressure, oil temperature, fuel pressure, EGT, boost reference and switch inputs can help improve tuning accuracy, diagnostics and engine protection strategy.

What the Expansion Box Does

The Expansion Box increases the number of available external inputs for the ProECU-K system.

It provides five additional analog inputs, one exhaust gas temperature input for a K-type thermocouple, and two additional digital inputs.

The analog inputs can be used for external sensors such as fluid temperature, pressure sensors, potentiometers or other 0-5V sensor signals. The EGT input is designed for exhaust gas temperature monitoring, while the digital inputs can be used for switches or selectable functions inside the ECU software.

The Expansion Box also includes a passthrough expansion port, allowing other ProECU-K accessories such as displays or interfaces to remain connected.

Why Add External Sensors?

A performance ECU is only as useful as the information it receives.

On a modified engine, especially a turbocharged or track-driven setup, extra sensor data can make a huge difference. Monitoring oil pressure, oil temperature, fuel pressure and exhaust gas temperature gives the tuner and driver a much clearer picture of engine health.

For example, fuel pressure monitoring can help identify fuel delivery issues. Oil pressure monitoring can help protect the engine under high load. EGT monitoring can be useful on turbo setups to check exhaust temperature behaviour. Fluid temperature sensors can help monitor oil or coolant temperature during hard driving.

The Doctronic Expansion Box makes it easier to bring this extra data into the ProECU-K system for logging, calibration review and safety strategy.

Important Usage Notes

The sensors connected to the Expansion Box are recommended for sensor logging, monitoring or table switching.

They should not be used for timing-critical functions where an instant signal response is required.

For thermistor-type temperature sensors with two wires, a pull-up resistor is required. The correct resistor value depends on the sensor resistance curve. For the Doctronic Fluid Temperature Sensor, a 390 Ohm pull-up resistor is used.

Correct wiring, sensor calibration and software configuration are important for accurate readings.

Installation Requirements

• Professional installation is recommended.
• The Expansion Box must be connected to the ProECU-K expansion port. Sensors must then be wired to the correct analog, digital or EGT input depending on their type.
• After installation, the sensors must be configured inside the ProECU-K software under the External Sensors section.
• Analog 1 to Analog 5 represent the five analog channels of the Expansion Box. Analog 6 represents the EGT input. The two digital inputs can be selected inside available digital input functions, such as table switching or nitrous activation.
• For best results, sensor scaling and calibration should be checked carefully during setup.
