HB587U.630 – Hawk DTC-70 Brake Pads
Dominating deceleration built purely for the racetrack.
The Hawk Performance DTC-70 Brake Pads (HB587U.630) are engineered specifically for motorsport platforms requiring extreme stopping power and aggressive initial bite. Developed to conquer high-deceleration track environments, the DTC-70 compound sits at the pinnacle of Hawk’s track-only lineup. It offers a consistently high friction coefficient across blistering thermal ranges, giving you precise, predictable pedal control when diving deep into the heavy braking zones.
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: NOT FOR STREET USE. The DTC-70 compound requires significant heat to function safely and will not provide adequate stopping power at cold street temperatures. It is highly aggressive and optimized strictly for iron/metal race rotors.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Extreme Initial Bite & High Torque: Engineered for cars with high deceleration rates, delivering immediate, hard-hitting braking.
-
Motorsport Thermal Stability: Maintains a stable, unshakeable friction profile across an immense operating window up to 870°C.
-
Superior Release & Modulation: Despite its aggressive torque, the compound allows for seamless trail-braking control and exceptionally clean brake release characteristics.
-
Excellent Mechanical Wear Properties: Formulated to drastically reduce pad and rotor wear when operating at proper racing temperatures compared to competing race compounds.
-
Engineered for Aftermarket Calipers: Specially cut to fit a variety of high-end motorsport caliper setups commonly found on pro-level track builds.

Applications
The HB587 pad profile is a universal motorsport shape utilized primarily in high-end aftermarket big brake kits (BBK) and dedicated racing calipers. It replaces the popular AP Racing CP7600 / CP7607 / CP7613 pad shapes (replaces AP profile CP7600D46).
It is frequently found on the front axle of specialized track builds, including:
-
Lotus Exige Cup (Dedicated Track Models)
-
AP Racing Big Brake Conversions (Common on heavily modified Honda Civic/Integra track cars)
-
Time Attack, GT, and Sports Car Road Racing chassis
Motorsports Bed-In Procedure
To prevent immediate pad glazing and ensure optimal pad-to-rotor contact, follow Hawk’s strict track bedding instructions:
-
At medium track speeds, gently pump the brake pedal to build initial heat, slowing the vehicle without coming to a complete stop. Repeat 4 to 5 times.
-
At higher track speeds, engage the brake pedal firmly to scrub off velocity. Do not drag the brakes and do not come to a complete stop. Repeat 5 times.
-
At or near full race speeds, engage the brakes aggressively down to a slow roll. Repeat 3 times, allowing a few seconds of free-rolling cooling time between cycles.
-
Park the car for 20 minutes. Allow the rotors to cool completely to the touch before entering your hot lap sessions.
